Open sourcing my charting library

Hi all, said I would write more devlogs so here's another one.

In the last post I briefly mentioned that im dropping Tradingview's charts for my own, and since then I've gone ahead and open sourced my charts, so anyone can use them github.com/christtrade/depth.

But first of all, why? I couldve kept it closed source and only used it myself, which was the initial plan honestly, because when I started the project I never intended it to get this big - since I thought I could have a sort of dual-boot solution to it where you can use tradingviews charts and then flip a switch to use mine (which was initially only really supposed for L3 data) but their license didnt allow that, so I had to choose mine or theirs and ofc I chose mine. so that meant I had to at least match tradingview's charts before I could make the switch. During that process I remember how horrible the experience of using their library was so I just had an idea where I could try to fix that as there's no good alternative to their library - make the dx actually good, and on top of that, open source it. I could probably make money licensing it out or keeping it closed source but I dont see the point so just why not just take the step and open source it. if people use it or if it gets traction then thats free advertising so I still win at the end of the day. Also the reason behind the corner logo. its removable but helps people find the library so would appreciate it if it stayed :)

The experience of open sourcing it wasn't as I expected either. Since it was initially inside the christtrade repo/folder I had to move it out, which caused more problems than I thought. like starting a dev environment without having to rebuild it every time I changed something, etc. And the launch itself was a mess... The first 3 commits were just fixing such issues like the fact that it only built because christtrade happened to have some packages installed, and the fact that you couldn't even write an adapter as like 70 types werent exported lol. Another thing was knowing other people would be reading my code, felt super weird for some reason so I spent like a few days cleaning it up lmao

So, what happens now? Well I'll keep working on it, ive got big plans like the huge task of writing docs... cant wait for that shit, performance upgrades, and ofc moving towards 1.0! I'm also currently not accepting PRs, its lowk honestly just ego.. I've built it from scratch over many months I want to keep it mine. issues are super welcome tho, if something's broken tell me and ill fix it.

If you feel like trying it out, run

npm i @christtrade/depth
bash

and follow the tutorial at the docs

But yeah thats about it for today :)
